In the Event of Death
Most deaths occur in hospitals, hospices and nursing homes.
What to do when death occurs?
- Contact Direct Singapore Funeral Services at our 24 Hrs line, 6555 1115 for immediate assistance
- Present the identity card of the deceased to the matron-in-charge
- Collect the CCOD (Certificate of Cause Of Death) document from the matron or the attending doctor
- To officially register the death, submit the CCOD to the Registry of Births and Deaths (RBD) counter at the hospital or any of the nearest neighbourhood police posts
- A Death Certificate together with a Burial or Cremation Permit will be issued to the informant
- Check particulars on the documents that were issued
- Call the undertaker, if you have not done so. Also inform your pastor, monk or other religion leaders as soon as possible to prepare to perform the religious rituals

- The death must be certified by a doctor who will issue the CCOD. If you can't find a doctor then call Direct Singapore Funeral Services at our 24 Hrs line, 6555 1115 and we will assist you in your time of need
- Register the death at the nearest Neighbourhood Police Station/Post

What to do when death occurs...OUTSIDE SINGAPORE?
- Obtain a Death Certificate from the country where the death occurred
- Contact the Singapore Embassy/Consulate in that country for assistance and advice (visit http://www.mfa.gov.sg/consular for further contact information)
